How You Can Volunteer:
In 1978, SARC grew out of the compassion, dedication, and the desire to achieve peace in the home thriving inside a group of volunteers. Nearly 3 decades later volunteers continue to be the critical element that makes SARC possible.
One SARC volunteer and companion put it best when she said, “As a SARC volunteer/companion, if I can get through to just one victim to let them know that what has happened to them is not their fault and that nothing that they did caused this act of violence, then I have done what I have been trained to do. Sexual assault victims need support and guidance, and that is what SARC is about!”
Another volunteer stated, “If I can help just one person know that they are not alone and let them know that there is help and that SARC is a place they can go to for this help I know that I have done a really good thing. It is such a pleasure to volunteer at SARC and to be able to make a difference.”
Just giving a few hours each month may provide the necessary intervention needed to save a life and end the cycle of violence. SARC Volunteer positions offer flexible schedules, and opportunities to work from home.
Volunteer opportunities include:
Volunteers must complete an entire training session on the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence prior to having client contact. The next training will be held in September.
SARC recently introduced a new Helper position. This opportunity allows you to volunteer without having direct client contact. Contact volunteers to sign-up or schedule a group orientation.
