Abuser Intervention Program:

I have been told by the court to come to SARC and sign-up for Abuser Intervention Classes also known as the Batterers’ Program. What does that mean?

SARC offers a 26 week group process that focuses on:

  • Identifying abusive and controlling behaviors,
  • Examining influences that contribute to violence,
  • Discussing the effects of violence on victims,
    children, and participants,
  • Replacing abusive behaviors with non-abusive ones.

How do I enroll?

  • Call 410/836-8431 during normal business hours. You will be required to leave a voice mail message on ext. 50 requesting information about scheduling an intake.
  • There is a required intake fee.
  • Our program assistant schedules intakes every two weeks on Thursday evenings.
  • Please do not walk-in to schedule an appointment before calling our program assistant.
  • Our program assistant works part-time and is not on-site. They will not be able to speak to you immediately. Please leave a detailed message and you call will be returned within 3 business days.

Can I enroll without being court-ordered?

Yes. Many of our program participants are court ordered, but if you find yourself using abusive behaviors with your partner (abusive behavior checklist), you are welcome to register.
